About Us
Our menu says “Pizza, sandwiches, salads, and amore”. The first three items are self-explanatory, while the last item describes the owners, Janice and Nolan. While it took what seemed a lifetime to find one another, they wasted no time creating a life full of amore, blended families, memories, and delicious food. The families and love have expanded over the years but the food has remained the same, incredible.
Janice and Nolan began the adventure called Marye’s Gourmet Pizza when they moved to Austin from Houston in early 1990. They’re original idea was a small, neighborhood “take and bake” pizza shop that also served the occasional small 8" size pizzas with the help of son Berke Marye. Word spread quickly about the tiny, poorly located, nondescript restaurant with the inconceivably delicious food. Janice switched gears and began making her signature homemade salad dressing in batches, not just as the orders trickled in. The small toaster-like oven was inadequate to cook the pizzas Nolan had created. The restaurant grew but not as quickly as the clientele.
Marye’s moved to it’s current location in 1994 and has continued to grow while maintaining it’s high level of freshness, quality, and flavor.While offering rich and delectable food, Marye’s also offers health-conscious alternatives with the same depth and flare as the rest of the menu. We are now offering gluten free pizzas.
